Picture Story - RavynA Strange Day in July

They sat on a big stone looking out over the big pond. The moon reflected off of the waters gleaming surface. The pops and bursts of colors behind them coming from the small fireworks, creating much joy.

Peter, one of the children, stood out up and threw a rock into the pond. It skipped four times until plopping down into the water. Kate, he other child sitting on the rock, then stood up and tossed another rock into the pond it skipped three times until plunging down into the depths of the pond. She sat back down on the rock and stared at her dress

Peter and Kate were siblings, twins in fact, and they often did this. Just sitting on that same rock looking out over the pond not saying anything, tossing rocks. She heard the splash of another rock into the pond.

"Kate," Peter called, "come look at this."

As she stood up Peter threw a a flat, colorless, stone into the water. It skipped five times, then came back, resting at Peter's feet.

Kate stepped back on the rock with one foot, then leaned over to get a better view.

"Do it again," she urged.

Peter picked up the stone and threw it directly into the water. He threw it so hard it didn't even skip. Then there it was by his foot. Peter picked it up, it was still wet, threw it with all his might, but the third stone kept skipping back.

"What a mystery," Kate said. "Throw a different one maybe its just that rock."

Peter did as instructed, it skipped three times then plunged into the pond like any other stone.

"Now do the weird one again," Kate said.

Peter reached down, but felt only dirt, the stone was gone.
